Gaven grew up in Brusly, Louisiana, just a few miles outside Baton Rouge.  He attended the University of Notre Dame where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Gaven returned home to Baton Rouge to study at LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the LSU Law Journal for Social Justice and Policy. He also served as an extern for the Honorable Chief Judge Holly A. Brady of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana and the Honorable Hunter Greene for the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal; and competed in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition in Los Angeles, California.

Prior to joining TWPD, Gaven practiced in the complex litigation division for a nationally recognized firm. Gaven continues to practice in construction, complex, and real property litigation.
