Steve Perkins deploys his extensive corporate legal experience to represent a broad range of business clients. His incisive problem-solving makes him an invaluable ally in every aspect of business, including start-up and incorporation, domestic and international market issues, protection and licensing of intellectual property, non-competes and human resources matters, vendor and customer contracts, and land use and property concerns. His strategic guidance helps clients navigate complex administrative, regulatory, and legislative processes.
Steve has earned a reputation as a dogged protector of business interests in matters such as antitrust, securities fraud, employment discrimination, and ERISA. He has successfully defended numerous contract, employment, and construction disputes in state and federal courts in Virginia and Louisiana, including multiple levels of appeals. And, when a telecommunications client presented him with more than $30 million in multi-state lawsuits involving intercarrier compensation and related antitrust litigation, Steve negotiated a strong resolution. He also successfully planned and litigated a suit to recover an insurance company’s eight-figure investment losses in collateralized debt obligations.
Steve is especially energized by small business creation and pro bono work. As general counsel for the LGBT+ Archives Project of Louisiana, he achieved rapid non-profit status for the organization, allowing it to begin receiving donations much sooner than it would have otherwise. He also advises the Youth Empowerment Project on contractual matters and assists with branding and service marks.
Steve wears his Tiger stripes proudly, serving as Social Chair for the Princeton Alumni Association of New Orleans and interviewing prospective students as a member of the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee.
On Sundays, he can often be found whipping up a batch of scrambled eggs for the hungry through his volunteer work with Dragon Café, a ministry of St. George’s Episcopal Church.
