John P. Guillory was raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, and went to high school in New Orleans. He attended LSU where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1982. John then worked for Arthur Anderson Accounting Firm in New Orleans in both consulting and auditing, and he obtained his CPA at that time. John then attended Tulane Law School where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif in 1987. After law school, John clerked for Justice Walter F. Marcus, Jr. at the Louisiana Supreme Court. He then practiced commercial litigation, including oil & gas, banking, and bankruptcy in New Orleans at Liskow & Lewis Law Firm, and in San Antonio at Akin Gump Law Firm where he obtained his Texas law license. John moved his practice in 1994 to Lafayette, Louisiana where he worked for Leonard & Leonard Law Firm, and then, most recently, at the Dill Firm in Lafayette. He had an extensive practice in insurance defense, insurance coverage law, premises and products liability, professional malpractice, appellate practice in all Federal and State Courts of Appeal, and transportation law and defense.
