Elizabeth McDermott was raised in Mobile, Alabama and graduated magna cum laude from Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communication. She continued her education at The University of Alabama School of Law, earning her Juris Doctor and L.L.M. in Taxation. Prior to entering private practice, Elizabeth was appointed to a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Callie V.S. Granade, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Alabama, giving her a front-row seat to learn courtroom and jury trial procedure and tactics first-hand.
After her judicial clerkship, Elizabeth continued to develop her skills as a litigation associate, primarily in a toxic tort and products liability defense practice.  She aggressively worked cases up for trial, including preparation and execution of effective expert cross-examinations; and she gained more jury trial experience, including second-chair of a defense verdict in a rear-end collision claim with catastrophic injuries.
Elizabeth represents clients in catastrophic matters and complex multi-party litigation involving asbestos and benzene exposure as well as the transportation, construction and industrial machinery industries, but she also has experience handling general casualty and liability matters, including premises liability claims.  In addition to her litigation practice, Elizabeth also keeps her tax and business law skills sharp and advises clients on business, taxation, and employment-related matters.  She is licensed to practice law in both Louisiana and Alabama.
While away from the law office, Elizabeth maintains balance in her life by playing competitive tennis.
